With Miro MCP for GitHub Copilot, your board's PRDs, diagrams, and decisions become live context inside your IDE. This enables Copilot to reason with the same source of truth your team uses to plan work, bridging visual planning and implementation.

Now you and your teams can go from:

  • Board → Code: Generate scaffolds or functions guided by a Miro board URL that contains requirements and designs, reducing rework and ambiguity.
  • Code/Repo → Diagram on Miro: Create architecture or sequence diagrams on a target board from VS Code based on your code or a GitHub URL, keeping system visuals accurate and up-to-date.
  • Board → Summary/Docs: Summarize complex planning boards into structured notes and decisions that Copilot can then turn into tasks or code changes.

By installing this, you connect Miro's MCP Server with GitHub Copilot's MCP Client. This will allow GitHub Copilot to read board content from the URL you provide and use it as context.

Set up

Important: If you are on an Enterprise plan, you will need to ask your Admin to enable MCP. See the Admin Guide.

First, configure in GitHub Copilot:

  1. In VS Code, open the Command Palette → "MCP: Add Server".
  2. Choose HTTP and set the URL to: https://mcp.miro.com/.

Then, authenticate with Miro OAuth:

  1. You will be redirected to authenticate with Miro OAuth
  2. Select the Miro team you wish to connect to
(important: MCP will only be able to read the boards in the team you choose in this flow)
  3. Once you've successfully completed this flow, you are ready to go

You can verify by checking your Miro MCP Server status is "Running" in GitHub Copilot.
Give it a try - paste a board URL into Copilot Chat and ask it to create code from your PRD.
If something isn't working, check this help article, or open a ticket with our support team.

Please note that Miro AI must be enabled to use the board summary function and Miro AI credits will be consumed for this feature.

Security & Compliance:

  • OAuth 2.1 authentication with individual user credentials
  • All existing Miro permissions and access controls maintained
  • Enterprise-grade security standards: enterprise admins can enable or disable MCP for entire organizations or specific teams, providing granular control over data access and usage.
