Miro MCP for Windsurf

With Miro MCP for Windsurf, your board's living specs, diagrams, and decisions become first-class context right inside your IDE. Windsurf can read the exact board you point to and generate or refactor code, then push fresh technical diagrams back to the same board - keeping the canvas and the code in sync.

Now you and your teams can go from:

  • Miro Board → Windsurf Code: Include a Miro board URL with your PRD, user stories, or architecture notes and have Windsurf generate scaffolds or targeted changes grounded in the board's source of truth—fewer misreads, faster iteration.
  • Repository/Code → Miro Diagram: Ask Windsurf to visualize a service, sequence, or dependency graph from your codebase; the Miro MCP server drafts the diagram back onto your board for shared review and alignment.
  • Mixed Context → Faster Understanding: Pull board docs, tags, and images as context while coding so Windsurf can explain unfamiliar modules or propose refactors that match current architecture decisions.

By installing this, you connect Miro's MCP Server with Windsurf's MCP Client. This will allow Windsurf to read board content from the URL you provide and use it as context.

Set up

Important: If you are on an Enterprise plan, you will need to ask your Admin to enable MCP. See the Admin Guide.

First, configure in Windsurf:

  • In Windsurf, open Settings → Cascade → Manage MCPs → Configure.
  • Add a remote MCP server with this configuration:

{
"mcpServers": {
"miro-mcp": {
"url": "https://mcp.miro.com/",
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}

Then, authenticate with Miro OAuth:

  • You will be redirected to authenticate with Miro OAuth
  • Select the Miro team you wish to connect to
    (important: MCP will only be able to read the boards in the team you choose in this flow)
  • Once you've successfully completed this flow, you are ready to go

You can verify by checking your Miro MCP Server status is "Running" in Windsurf.

Give it a try - Paste a Miro board URL in a Windsurf prompt and ask it to 'create an architecture diagram on this board' or 'generate code based on this PRD' - watch the canvas and your editor stay perfectly in step.

If something isn't working, check this help article, or open a ticket with our support team.

Tips:

During OAuth, choose the exact Miro team where your target boards live - access and tool availability are scoped to that team. You must include a full board URL in prompts; agents don't auto-discover other boards.
Please note that Miro AI must be enabled to use the board summary function and Miro AI credits will be consumed for this feature.

Security & Compliance:
OAuth 2.1 authentication with individual user credentials
All existing Miro permissions and access controls maintained
Enterprise-grade security standards: enterprise admins can enable or disable MCP for entire organizations or specific teams, providing granular control over data access and usage.
