Miro MCP for Cursor

With Miro MCP for Cursor, the ideas, specs, and diagrams on your board become live context inside your IDE - so the AI can read what the team decided and generate or explain code accordingly. When you're ready, it can draft system diagrams back to Miro, keeping product and engineering in lockstep without copy‑paste or context loss.

Now you and your teams can go from:

  • Board context → Code in Cursor: Pull PRDs, diagrams, or notes from a Miro board into Cursor so the AI grounds code generation and refactors in real team context.
  • Code/repo → Diagram in Miro: From code or a GitHub URL, ask Cursor to draft an architecture, sequence, or data-flow diagram onto a target Miro board for onboarding and design reviews.
  • Visual brief → Scaffolding loop: Use a product spec on Miro to guide Cursor's scaffold or updates, then generate diagrams back to the board to validate understanding with stakeholders.

By installing this, you connect Miro's MCP Server with Cursor's MCP Client. This will allow Cursor to read board content from the URL you provide and use it as context.

Set up

Important: If you are on an Enterprise plan, you will need to ask your Admin to enable MCP. See the Admin Guide.

First, configure in Cursor:

  • In Cursor, open Settings → MCP → Add a Custom MCP Server. Use this configuration:

{
"mcpServers": {
"miro-mcp": {
"url": "https://mcp.miro.com/",
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}

Then, authenticate with Miro OAuth:

  • You will be redirected to authenticate with Miro OAuth
  • Select the Miro team you wish to connect to
    (important: MCP will only be able to read the boards in the team you choose in this flow)
  • Once you've successfully completed this flow, you are ready to go

You can verify by checking your Miro MCP Server status is "Running" in Cursor.

Give it a try - paste a full Miro board URL into your Cursor prompt to ground the AI - try "Explain this module using the board's spec and draft an architecture diagram back to the board."

If something isn't working, check this help article, or open a ticket with our support team.

Tips:

If you don't see tools or get access errors, re-run OAuth and ensure you selected the team where your target board lives; MCP only operates in the chosen team, and board access still follows your Miro permissions.
Please note that Miro AI must be enabled to use the board summary function and Miro AI credits will be consumed for this feature.

Security & Compliance:
OAuth 2.1 authentication with individual user credentials
All existing Miro permissions and access controls maintained
Enterprise-grade security standards: enterprise admins can enable or disable MCP for entire organizations or specific teams, providing granular control over data access and usage.
