Sun Tzu's Five Fundamentals

Report

I've been collecting, reading, and studying various translations of Sun Tzu's Art of War (or Sun zi bing fa) for well over twenty years. My love of the Chinese classic began when my late wife (Shelley) handed me a copy of R.L. Wing's "The Art of Strategy" around 1997. Sadly, I cannot read the original Chinese characters, so I must rely on English translations, as well as interpretations which are gleaned from existing English translations. But that limitation has led me to build a Miro board comprised of The Five Fundamentals as translated and interpreted by various sinologists, brigadier generals, and business strategists.

Recently, with the growing popularity of Wardley Mapping, many business strategists are exploring various translations of Sun Tzu. In chapter 1 of Simon's book, he talks about "Sun Tzu's five factors"; those factors are, in fact, what are commonly referred to as "The Five Funamentals". If you're exploring Wardley Mapping and would like to consider those factors from various perspectives, this Miro board will provide a convenient reference for various interpretations of The Five Fundamentals.
