Process mapping, for instance, is something so many of our customers do every day. We’ve watched it change from weeks of interviews and hand-stitched diagrams that still miss what falls between systems and people’s heads, to connecting their sources of truth, seeing the process as it actually runs, and letting the team decide on the best flow together.
So today we’re reintroducing Miro, with Intelligent Canvas at the heart of it: a new kind of collaborative work surface where human and artificial intelligence come together to transform ideas, organizational knowledge, and workflows into shared understanding, better decisions, and faster progress.
We want to explain why we did it, and what we believe a canvas should be now.
AI made it dramatically easier to produce things. It didn’t make it any easier for a team to understand them together.
When we talk to Miro users, we still hear about hours spent gathering context, moving it from tool to tool, and laying it out so everyone else can follow. And now there’s more of it than ever: more drafts, more versions, more agents producing more output. The bottleneck has moved. It’s no longer making the work.
It’s getting a team to see the same picture and decide what happens next.
That’s the problem we rebuilt Miro to solve.

Miro’s Intelligent Canvas removes the organizational friction that gets in the way of coming together, making decisions, and moving work forward.
The breakthrough that made this possible is what we call our Visual Intelligence Engine. It can take almost any input (a prompt, a document, enterprise data, what’s already on the canvas, or another agent’s work) and turn it into the right visual form. Not a static image. A rich, editable, collaborative visual workspace your team can build on.
Start with an idea, a prompt, existing content, or data and create the form that best expresses it.
Intelligent Canvas is inherently multi-format and multimodal: diagrams, documents, maps, plans, visualizations, structured content, and new combinations of formats can all live together on one canvas. And because it works with open, agent-readable formats like Markdown, HTML, and Mermaid, what gets created can be understood and manipulated by both people and AI agents.
But creating is only half of it. Most AI products generate an impressive artifact and stop there: you accept it or you regenerate it. We believe getting your hands on what AI creates is fundamental to human creativity. So everything Intelligent Canvas creates is built on fully editable experiences (docs, tables, slides, diagrams, and prototypes) that you can take apart, rearrange, and make your own. And because it isn't a static artifact, it’s something people can discuss, refine, and decide on together.
The principle is simple: describe what you need and the canvas creates it. That’s where the work starts, not where it ends.

Great work rarely starts from a blank prompt. It depends on the knowledge, data, and context already distributed across an organization. Until now, Miro boards have depended too much on information coming in and out by hand, which meant discussions and decisions often happened without the latest company information.
Intelligent Canvas connects to the systems where that context already lives, including Snowflake, Salesforce, Confluence, Jira, SharePoint, Notion, Google Drive, and many more, and makes the canvas part of your workflows rather than a stop along the way.
But connecting context isn’t enough. Plenty of tools can pull information together. What matters is laying it out where people can see how things relate and make sense of it together.
The canvas becomes a place where company context turns into shared understanding.

The defining idea behind Intelligent Canvas isn't AI working alone. It's the combination of human intelligence + artificial intelligence.
AI can synthesize, generate, and visualize at a speed no team can match. People bring judgment, insight, and taste, whether through structured interactions, voice, or the free-form collaboration that happens naturally on the canvas.
The canvas is designed to do something no AI tool working on its own can do: capture the intelligence created through that human interaction and make it available to the AI systems working alongside it.

We don’t believe the future belongs to one AI system. Your team will work with many, and the canvas should welcome all of them.
That means supporting both:
Off-canvas agents such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, or other MCP-enabled systems that can create, retrieve, update, and interact with canvas content.
On-canvas agents such as Claude Tag, Dots, or custom-built agents that people can invoke directly inside comments, conversations, or the canvas itself.
The canvas becomes a shared environment where people and many different AI systems can collaborate

Intelligence becomes more valuable when it can be reused.
Intelligent Canvas helps teams turn successful approaches into repeatable workflows through capabilities such as custom individual and organizational skills, reusable processes, blueprints, organizational standards, and brandbooks.
Instead of recreating great work every time, teams can encode their best practices into the canvas and share them across the organization.

Put together, these five things help teams do three things better: see the work, shape the work, and decide what happens next.
See it. Everyone aligns around one visual picture.
Shape it. Ideas can be shaped in any direction and have room to grow into something great.
Decide on it. Everything you need to make decisions that matter, faster.
The best way to understand this is to see what people are already doing with it. Here are four workflows that changed how we think about what Miro can be.
Plan end-to-end workshops
Map and update processes
Design your system architecture
Review and validate concepts
This is the beginning of a new Miro and it’s the most excited we’ve been about what we’re releasing since we started.
Intelligent Canvas is available now. Bring your work into it, bring your team, and share what you discover. We can't wait to see what you build.
