About the team

Whiteboard Engine is a crucial part of Miro product which serves as foundation for all features built on top of Whiteboard. It is responsible for providing abilities for other product streams to build best in class experience for their target use cases. Whiteboard Engine consists of a few teams focusing on different parts of the Miro engine.

Each role at Miro is based at one of our physical hubs, and we search for talent that wants to be part of these local, collaborative communities. Mironeers work in a hybrid model, with 3 days a week in office culture as our baseline.

About the role

We believe that accurate, comprehensive, and readable documentation of core Whiteboard functionality is essential to enable different product teams across Miro to build higher level user-facing features, and we need a skilled and passionate technical writer to lead our documentation effort. The ease with which whiteboard can be documented is a reflection of how well it has been designed, so we are looking for someone who actively participates in design discussions, while serving the documentation needs of even the most sophisticated of developers.

  • Author and maintain a complete set of sub stream technical documentation, including reference docs, code samples, guides, with primary focus on components related to Canvas Domain and corresponding API
  • Link technical documentation to relevant parts of logical Canvas Domain documentation.
  • Work alongside developers, information architects and technical product managers to document new Whiteboard Engine capabilities as they are designed and implemented, and to provide feedback on API design and usability.
  • Define and evangelize formatting and styling guides within substream technical and logical documentation.

What you’ll need

  • Strong technical writing skills in English, including structuring content for ease of comprehension, communicating complex concepts, and narrative storytelling
  • Foundational development skills in client side JavaScript, TypeScript, and server side (Java)
  • Comfort working with backend APIs to test, provide design feedback, write code samples, and document behaviour
  • Experience in documentation processes automation and working with version control systems is a plus
  • Empathy for both developers and product managers, with an understanding of their documentation and learning needs

What's in it for you

  • Competitive equity package
  • Travel allowance for your commute
  • Lunch, snacks and drinks provided when back in the office
  • Allowance to facilitate remote working during WFH period
  • Weekly team activities (even virtually) to keep the spirits high
  • Opportunity to work for a globally diverse team
